See WASTE DISPOSAL . New York recycles paper, glass, metals and plastic to reduce the flow of trash into landfills. TYPInfo: Bottles and cans of beer and soda (but not water, tea, coffee or fruit juices) include a $.05 deposit which can be redeemed at the place of purchase, or many supermarkets that have "automatic bottle/can recycling machines." Many people, however, simply throw the bottles & cans into the trash.
