Hudson River Park (Along Hudson River from Battery Park to 59th St.)  
Envisioned as running along the Hudson River from Battery Park to 59th Street this miles long narrow park is still in under sonctruction. You can walk, roller blade, bicycle, jog along miles of waterfront & gain access to some of the pier jutting out into the Hudson River. All sorts of activities planned and unplanned take place. Although it is located in Brooklyn at Grand Army Plaza, this 500 acre urban park built by Olmsted & Vaux one of NYC's jewels . Riverside Park (Upper West Side along Hudson)  
Located on the Upper West Side along Riverside Drive, the influence of Olmstead on New York City can be felt once again. Built in 1837 as part of an aqueduct to bring water to the city, its rocky ledges & terraces now provide a good view of the Harlem River. 196 acres of the last remaining natural forest in Manhattan is located where the Hudson & Harlem rivers meet. Located at Dyckman Ave. to the Harlem River from Seaman to Payson Aves.

Once the location of the original Madison Square Garden, this park is now a spot to walk your dog or grab a bench & sit for a while. Marcus Garvey Park Located in Harlem along 5th Ave. from 120th to 124th Streets.
Built for the residents of Harlem it was renamed in 1973 after Marcus Garvey, the leader of the back-to-Africa movement. Not what one would expect from a 5th Ave. address. Click here for Location.

Morningside Park  
Originally one of Manhattan's premier parks designed in the late 1800's by Olmsted and Vaux, this 30 acre park fell into a state of disrepair and was deemed unsafe. Now, thanks to the concerted efforts of Friends of Morningside Park, the park has been revitalized, cleaned-up and re-planted, and will be starting a Saturday Farmer's Market and film screenings in the summer of 2006.

Castle Clinton National Monument  
Castle Clinton was built to defend New York Harbor during the War of 1812. It served as an entertainment center during the mid-1880s, an immigrant landing depot form 1855 to 1890 and the home of the New York City Aquarium for nearly 50 years.

Federal Hall National Memorial  
This location was home to NYC's City Hall of the 1700's. That building was demolished, however, in 1812 & the structure on this site today was erected as the Customs House & later, when Customs moved up the street, became the US Subtreasury. The Federal style house Alexander Hamilton commissioned & lived in for only 2 short years before he died in a duel with his political rival, Aaron Burr. Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace  
The only President born in New York City, "Teddie" lived here until he was 15 years old. The house was demolished in 1916, but the property was purchased after Roosevelt's death in 1919 and a replica of the home was built in its place. Today it contains five rooms furnished with period artifacts, two museum galleries and a bookstore.
