Taking the AirTrain JFK to JFK International Airport
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has begun operating a new train service that runs between the MTA Long Island Rail Road, local buses and MTA New York City Transit subways.

The AirTrain JFK makes is possible for travellers to avoid traffic and ride to and from Kennedy Airport. It also serves as a convenient on-airport transport service between airline terminals, rental car facilities, hotel shuttles & airport parking lots.

Getting to the AirTrain:

A Howard Beach / JFK Airport Station: Take the NYC MTA A Subway or the Green Bus Line Q11 to 102nd St. & 160th Ave. (1 block from the station).
 
B Lefferts Station: This station can be used to travel from JFK Long Term Parking to any of the airport terminals. This station also functions as a Kiss and Fly drop-off passenger drop-off point for those who wish to avoid the traffic within the airport.
 
D Jamaica Station: Take the LIRR to Jamaica Station or the E, J/Z subways to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Ave., Jamaica Station.You can also take the NYC Transit Bus Lines Q20, Q24, Q30, Q31, Q43, Q44, Q54, and Q56 to Jamaica Station. The Green Bus Lines Q6, Q8, Q9, Q40, Q41, and Q60 also run to Jamaica Station.

Using the AirTrain to To Travel Around Kennedy Airport:

The AirTrain makes frequent stops at airline terminals, parking lots, hotel shuttle areas and rental car facilities. The AirTrain run on two loops, the Inner Loop which makes stops at all terminals, and the Outer Loop which stops at all airline terminals, hotel shuttles (at station C), long term parking (stations A & B) Jamaica Station (station A) and Howard Beach Station (station D).

Fares & Tickets:

  • All AirTrain rides within Kennedy Airport are free, so that you can connect between terminal, parking, hotel shuttles & rental car facilities without paying a fee.
  • When entering or exiting the AirTrain at Howard Beach or Jamaica stations, riders will have to pay an access fee. Passengers may purchase a Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard and pay $5 per ride or they can buy an Unlimited Ride MetroCard for AirTrain for $40, and pay less than $1 per ride. Children under age 5 ride for free.
  • When using the LIRR, subway or local bus to connect to or from the AirTrain, you must pay the associated fares.
